With Local Support and Funding... ARORelief Paints a Picture of Social Solidarity by Distributing Ramadan Food Baskets in Juba

In a scene embodying the highest meanings of human brotherhood and social responsibility, the Africa Revitalized Organization for Relief and Development (ARORelief) in South Sudan launched the Ramadan food baskets ("Faster's Bag") distribution project on the morning of Sunday, 12th of Ramadan 1447 AH, corresponding to March 1, 2026, in the city of Juba. The initiative targets the most vulnerable families, widows, the poor, and the destitute, in a step aimed at reinforcing the values of solidarity amid the difficult economic conditions and soaring prices currently witnessed in the local market.

The event received widespread official praise. Dr. Wani Simon, External Relations Officer at the National Islamic Council, expressed his pride in this "young" organization, which has managed to achieve a significant milestone during this holy month. He emphasized that providing support to the vulnerable is the true divine message aimed at bringing people together and meeting their needs, praying to God to bless everyone who contributed to this noble deed that arrived at exactly the right time.

For his part, Mr. Eltayeb Melit Akoud, the Executive Director of the organization, stressed the national identity of the initiative. He explained that ARORelief is a national, non-profit organization striving to extend a helping hand to everyone without discrimination. He proudly pointed out that what distinguishes this year's "Faster's Bag" is its total reliance on purely "local South Sudanese" efforts—driven by market merchants and philanthropists in Juba—completely independent of external funding. This, he noted, strengthens the community's capacity to support one another.

In the same context, Mr. Rifaat Juma Abdullah, Director of Programs and Projects at the organization, clarified that this local initiative is merely the beginning of an ambitious path. He affirmed the organization's urgent need for further support and funding from partners and donors to implement a package of future programs and projects aimed at empowering the community and achieving sustainable humanitarian goals. Simultaneously, he commended the trust of the donors who made this launch possible.

Board Member Mr. Abdullah Michael concluded the event by extending his thanks and appreciation to the organizing committee, as well as to his fellow merchants and supporters who empathized with the suffering of everyday people. Describing the timing of the basket distribution as "ideal," he issued an open invitation to all affluent individuals, alongside local, regional, and international organizations, to stand by the organization and support its diverse programs. This support will ensure the continuity of this charitable giving and its expansion to reach the largest possible base of those in need across the country.
