With Kuwaiti and Local Support: ARORelief Distributes "Zakat Al-Fitr and Eid Joy" to Over 120 Families in Juba

In an atmosphere of solidarity and compassion, and on the 29th day of the holy month of Ramadan, the Africa Revitalizetion Organization for Relief and Development (ARORD) implemented the "Zakat Al-Fitr and Eid Joy" project yesterday. The initiative targeted more than 120 underprivileged families in the capital, Juba. This project was carried out in partnership with the Kuwaiti Society for Humanitarian Endowment and Development, along with significant contributions from local traders, aimed at alleviating economic hardships and bringing joy to those fasting.

The event received extensive media coverage, with the inauguration ceremony attended by South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) and Al-Watan Newspaper. These outlets documented the scenes of joy and highlighted the humanitarian efforts dedicated to supporting the community in the capital.

Statements from the Inauguration

Mr. Al-Tayeb Melit (Executive Director of ARORD): In his opening remarks, Mr. Melit emphasized that the organization operates as a national entity providing aid to all those in need without discrimination. He noted that this distribution is a continuation of previous efforts, following the "Ramadan Food Basket" distributed on the 12th of Ramadan. Mr. Melit expressed his deep gratitude to the Kuwaiti Society for Humanitarian Endowment and Development for their generous support and praised the contributions from the Muslim community traders in the Konyo Konyo Market. He concluded with a humanitarian appeal to donors, stressing that even the smallest contribution makes a significant impact given the country’s current economic challenges.

Mr. Abdullah Michael (Board Member): Mr. Michael lauded the immense efforts of the field and organizational teams who successfully delivered aid despite challenging weather conditions and heavy rainfall in Juba. He renewed his thanks to the supporting partners and urged philanthropists to seize these blessed days to assist their brothers and sisters in South Sudan, affirming that collective action is the only way to overcome the harsh conditions facing vulnerable groups.

Dr. Wani Simon (Representative of the National Islamic Council): Concluding the ceremony, Dr. Simon expressed his great pleasure in participating in this blessed day. He underscored the profound religious and social importance of the project, which honors a key pillar of Islam. He also praised the fruitful partnership between the Africa Revitalizetion Organization and the Kuwaiti Society for bringing the joy of Eid to deserving families.
